회원들의 공감과 이해를 넓히고 우리가 나아갈 방향을 논의하고자 기후위기에 관한 개론단계의 교육 강좌를 열었고 뜨거운 열기속에 진행되었습니다. 2022년 5월 2일 부터 5월23일까지 총 4회의 강좌를 통해 기후 과학자(조천호), 생물학자(최재천), 역사학자(고태우)의 유튜브 강의를 선정하여 듣고 토론을 나누었습니다. 또 우리단체 대표의 강의도 들었습니다. 모이신 분들의 다양한 구성과 풍부한 토론으로 우리단체 주요 목적 중 하나인 회원교육 시민교육 사업은 가장 중요하게 계속되어야 한다는 이유를 찾게 된 출발점이었습니다. 또 같은 관심을 갖고 있는 많은 한인들을 만날 수 있는 기회 였습니다.

In May 2022, HNET organized a comprehensive four-week online seminar on climate change, aimed at educating our members and the public about the pressing issue of the climate crisis. The seminar featured a range of thought-provoking videos by leading climate scientist Cheon Ho Cho, biologist Je Cheon Choi, and historian Taewoo Go. Following each video, we engaged in lively discussion, sharing our own insights and perspectives on the key issues at hand.

In the final session of the May seminar, HNET president Phillip Jung delivered a stimulating lecture, bringing together the key themes and ideas explored throughout the program. The seminar was a resounding success, serving as an important starting point for raising public awareness and connecting Korean Canadians who share a deep interest in tackling climate change. We look forward to building on this momentum in our ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable future for all.
